ueber mich neu

Hello,

my name is Karin Oesterreicher-Pfeiffer. I am a state-approved teacher and educator and mother of three adult sons. I grew up in Munich, lived in Haidhausen for several years and worked here for many years. Together with my husband and our dog, I now live on the outskirts of Munich.

“Die Vorschule” at Sedanstraße 34 is my new professional project.

To introduce myself and my ideas in a little more detail, I’ll pick out the school preparation courses and the language support courses from the services for families that “Die Vorschule” will offer.

For the last eight years, I have managed a daycare center for 61 children (age 1-6) in Berg am Laim district. Working with international parents and staff, with teachers at elementary school, pediatricians, social welfare offices, etc. was always interesting, sometimes challenging, and occasionally – who hasn’t experienced this – frustrating. I am grateful for the whole range of experiences I was able to gain during this time.

But the most important thing for me was always working with children and especially with the ones in their last year of kindergarten before starting school. I think it is particularly important to prepare the extensive learning content in such a way that all the children participate with concentration and interest. So that the joy of school grows and the child experiences that it can already do a lot. Keeping a close eye on each child, strengthening their resources, but also recognizing what is not yet going so well and helping them to overcome it – that’s what I became an educator and teacher for.

The transition from kindergarten to school is a major and important step for children and their families. The transition does not always go well. There are many reasons for this. No, too little or unqualified preparation due to staff shortages in daycare centers, insufficient language skills and a lack of knowledge about how our school system works all contribute to this.

Professional school preparation significantly increases the chances of a good start. Thanks to years of experience and good contacts with elementary school and their teachers, I know what a child should be able to do and can prepare children accordingly.

My work with pre-school children (and their families) is helped by the fact that I am the mother of three sons with a Bavarian Abitur. I also know our school system from the parents’ side and know how to support children at home for school.

From 2016 – 2023, I worked on the federal government’s daycare support program “Because language is the key to the world”. As a language specialist with years of practical experience, I know how children learn language and how language support works methodically and didactically. By the time they start school (at the latest), every child should be able to speak and understand German well enough to follow lessons and participate successfully. Poor language skills – as all specialist studies show – are a massive obstacle to educational success.

I invite you to get to know me personally during a free initial consultation and look forward to receiving your e-mail to arrange an appointment.
